Since 2015, I have been a regular contributor to NOW Magazine’s legal column, entitled ‘Reasonable Doubt’. The aim of the column has been to make the legal system more accessible. I have written about topics ranging from drunk driving and the law to fighting traffic tickets.
I have also contributed to the Toronto Star’s investigation into the flawed assembly of jury lists in Ontario. Early in their investigation, I commented on my experience as counsel representing racialized clients in jurisdictions where the jury did not contain members of my client’s race. A year later, due in part to the Toronto Star’s investigation, the Ontario government adopted a more representative basis for assembling jury lists, and I was once again called upon for comment.
I have also been called upon for comment in criminal matters by television medial outlets. In 2016, I was called upon by Global News to comment on the debate of whether to criminalize distracted driving (at 1:07).
My cases regularly appear in the news. Several examples can be found below:
In addition to my media appearances, I have also appeared at continuing professional development (CPD) programming for criminal practitioners, presenting on topics such as succeeding at bail hearings and applications to admit a complainant’s sexual history. I have presented at both the Criminal Law Primer Conference, presented by the Ontario Bar Association, as well as The Law Garage.
In 2023, I joined my colleague, Alison Craig, for a recording of The Law Garage Podcast, where we discussed our work on “Mr. Big” cases.
